Hi everyone. After thinking about this for a while, I feel that it is time to start a new chapter. When I made Polish Candy, it was a spur of a moment thing. I just kinda created it for fun, but it quickly turned into something that I felt was a requirement. I was inspired by some of my favorite nail bloggers, but I couldn't keep up with what seemed like the necessity to post something frequently.
So, I have decided to end my posts of Polish Candy and start a new blog. I know that not many know of my blog, but if you still need some inspiration, all my previous posts will still be here. So, this ends my last post, and I hope we meet again!

Hello my readers! Can you believe that it's already the end of August? Time has passed by very quickly. You might have noticed that I am still short four posts, but it's because school has started and in incoming rush of homework has just simple knocked me over. However, on the first week of school, I did a simple polka dot design on my nails. Enjoy!

If you're wondering how to get perfect polka dots but can't find a dotting tool, look no further than your bathroom! The ends of a bobby pin are perfect for creating dots. All the polishes I used were China Glaze. Want to know the colors? I have used them all in the past, so look at previous posts!

Hello there! For today's post, I'm going to show you guys how to give a tribal design a fun spin. Take a look!

I was looking through some blogs, and I happened to click on this one, For Your Nails Only. She does great freehand designs, so I felt inspired by her. Go look at her blog! Anyways, if you remember the tribal- inspire design I did a few months ago (look here!), I decided to add a more summery take on it.

You've probably noticed the different base color on the pinky- it's cause I was playing around with some colors, and I got too lazy to change it back to Re- Fresh Mint. I purposely made the designs seem a little rough and hand painted to have a summery hand- drawn feel. Over all, I think it turned out nicely and I had some fun thinking of the designs. Don't be afraid to experiment with designs and colors! As you can see, on my thumb nail, I had originally done little teal dots around the yellow zig zag but changed it to a red stripe later. Also, look around on the web and search for tribal patterns you like ^.^ Hope you enjoyed!

Hot Glitter Party

Happy Friday everyone! My town recently had their yearly carnival, so I did a simple swash of eye popping color and some glitter. Check it out!

Natural light, slight shade. Right

hand color: China Glaze Sun Worshiper.

Natural light, shade. I now realize that

my camera can’t handle bright colors

or patterns. Sun worshipper looks

yellow in my pictures, but it actually

has more of an orange in it.

Natural light, half shade. Mmmmmm...

this color reminds me of orange sorbet.

Even thought I’ve never really used

this color before, and it's from a past

collection, here’s a quick mini review.

China Glaze Sun Worshiper is a bright

yellow- orange with a slightly matte

finish, like most of CG’s neons. It is

quite sheer- it took me four coats to

build up to this color, and you can still

see my tips.

Overall though, this is a great color

on tanned skin and is a good for

summer. Now, to get back to the

real post…

Purple Panic (Neon).

Natural light, slight shade. Out of all

the times I’ve used this color, it’s not

purple at all. It’s more of a bright

magenta than purple.

Natural light, full sun. Ahhhhh….

the best pink hands down for summer.

These are all pretty much repeats of colors you’ve all probably seen before, but I just wanted to show you guys an easy manicure if you have an event or night out, but don’t really know how to dress up your nails. Just pick two colors that match the theme of your event and pop a glitter top coat over it. For example, because I was going to a carnival, and I knew I would be there until dark, I wanted something bright. So, I chose a bright pink and yellow-orange to match the playfulness of a carnival. The carnival is always brightly lit after dark, so the glitter makes the colors stand out and adds a little more omph when it catches the light. So, don’t be afraid to test and have fun!

Hot Summer..... Hot Enough for a Volcano to Blow. (Part 2)

Whew! Summer is about half way over, and I still have eight posts to go! Today's post is a two-in-one. I actually did this when I was on my vacation out of the country. ^.^
This first design was inspired by f(x)'s new single, Hot Summer.

Polishes used: All China Glaze. Sun Worshiper

(base), High Hopes, Devotion. Natural light,

slightly cloudy.

Natural light. The colors remind me of citruses.

Natural light. Don't mind the black crackle on

my pinky.

You can try a variety of colors- this is really simple! Just chose a base color and add random dabs of other colors on top. Have fun and experiment! Try more that two colors. You can wear this look alone or..........

f(x) inspired: Part 1

Post two of today! As you can see, the colors were inspired by girl band f(x) in their MV, Pinocchio.

Natural light.The base color I used, High Hopes,

is a very interesting color. It can appear orange in

some lights, red in others, and pink-ish red in even

more different lightings!

Natural light, partial shade.

And last but not least, a blurry pic so you can see

the gold shimmer in the gray. (CG Sea Spray)

Polishes I used: All China Glaze. High Hopes, Sky High Top, and Sea Spray. To crate the stripes shown on my ring finger, you can use tape to make neater stripes. Just make sure your polish is dry before taping on the next row of tape! Also, do the opposite for peeling off the tape- don't let the polish dry too much or not be dry enough, or else you'll end up with something that is not a stripe. You can also try varying how many stripes and color placement ^.^

Pink Glitter.

Hello hello! March is here- that means spring is coming! I'm planing to post more, unlike last month... *cough, cough.
Today is just a quick post on Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Pink Rockstar. It's actually a glitter that covers pretty nicely with three/four coats. I don't know about you, but I hate when you have to pile on layers of glitter to get it dense enough. The layers are irritating and they usually chip easily, even with a top coat. Anyways, enough with the layers shpeal. The glitter in this polish in composed of big magenta, red, and blue glitter and littler gold pieces. Pics below!

Overall, this polish was nice and was fun to wear. You can definitely play with this polish and put it over some solids to see what you get. (Black you look nice... ^.^) Good glitter, manageable, and dried pretty quickly as well. The Xtreme Wear line is overall pretty nice and its affordable too. I recommend this polish if you are looking for something fun yet versatile and easy to wear.

Tribal Inspired! Happy Valentine's Day!

Hello Hello! Long time no see! I'm starting to think posts are becoming a one-a-month thing, but don't worry! I am planing to post more! I have a couple things to update...
First up: New heading coming soon!
Second: New lettering! Polish Candy has gotten a modern update. (Curious for the font? It's called Lemur Light)

Now back to what this month's post is about. February is tribal-inspired with LOTS of bright colors. I was inspired by Teen Vouge's January issue with the pop nail editorial, especially this page:

I loved the pinky finger design, so I decided to try putting my spin on it. It actually turned out quite well! Pictures below.

How to!

To achieve this nail look, first take a bright pink color and apply as a base coat. Next, take any orange in the same color range and color small sections of the nail. This can be random and doesn't really matter where you place it. Next, take nail art brushes (striping) and draw triangular designs over the orange and pink. Contrasting colors and basic colors like black and white will work best on a colorful background. Let your designs dry and apply a base coat if needed!

Colors I used:

Base: China Glaze in Purple Panic (Neon), N.Y.C. in Times Square Orange

Designs: Color Club Art Club in Black, White, and ; China Glaze in Green Entourage; and Sally Hansen in Grape Going

Merry Christmas there! Hope you are all enjoying the holidays.
Today’s post was inspired by straight lines and modern edge. It's a nice New Year's mani, and is a simple and quick design to do if your in a rush, or just looking for something easy to do. I used a bright pink, metallic bronze, and a metallic silver to create this look. (Specifically- China Glaze in Purple Panic (Neon), W N’ W Craze in Shield, and W N’ W Shine in Metallica.)

NS Light. Before the silver parts were

added on.

NS Light. Left hand.

Take your brush and draw a diagonal

line from the bottom of your nail to the

middle or higher. Fill in the top half and

repeat if needed.

NS Light. Right hand.

NS Light. Left hand.

NS light. Left hand. Now take the silver

and draw another diagonal line going

the opposite direction of your first line.

Fill that in as well. After, seal with a

top coat or just leave as is. Viola!

Your finished!

Overall, I would suggest this as a simple and fun way to mix up your mani and make it fun. You can play around with colors, or ad more sections if your nails are longer. Hope this helped, and good luck!

Silver!

I’m back! Sorry for the LONG break- school is very hectic now. I just wanted to put up a quick post- a gorgeous silver (Wet N’ Wild Wild Shine in Metallica). It’s a bit in between a metallic and a foil, so we’ll just call it a moil. It’s a great silver though- a perfect balance of shimmer and metallics. Enjoy!

Bright shade. (Is that even possible?)

Shade. Blue bandana.

Shade. Red bandana. Slightly blurred, but

you can see the flecks of silver better.

Overall the formula was good, a tab bit too runny though. It didn’t last me very long- just about four days with my CG No- Chip Topcoat. I guess that’s what you get for a $0.99 polish! The color is nice and I would definitely wear it again. I’ll check in soon! I promise this time!

Aqua Leopard

Yes, it has been a while since my last post, but I had a bit of time now, so I decided to put this up. Originally, I just had Sally Hansen's HD in Laser on, but it was starting to show some signs of tipping, so I covered them up with Sally Hansen's Insta- Dri in Blue Streak using a sponge and used Color Club's Art Club in Black to do the little leopard spots for a little pop of fun. Enjoy!

Review: China Glaze Four Leaf Clover

Hello reader! I know I've been AWOL for a while, but I've been REALLY busy with school, but I had a little time this weekend, so I decided to put a post up.
Today I'm doing a review on China Glaze's Four Leaf Clover, which was from their Up and Away Spring 2010 Collection. Before you see the pictures though, I have to warn you that this IS NOT the actual color of the polish. I tried different lighting, but my camera just wouldn't pick up how amazing the color actually is! The camera saw it as a light aqua-y color but its really a bright, almost neon green color.

The color is more like the sweatshirt, but brighter.

CF Light bulb. Better, but still not right!

Overall, I loved this color and it was such a nice shade of green. The only thing is, you have to mix it well, or else you'll end up with streaks of green and the teal pigment in the polish. The formula was excellent, as usual, and went on smoothly. I think I used 2 or 3 coats and it covered nicely. I used the CG No- Chip Top Coat, and it pretty much lasted for the whole week! There was just some tip wear and a little gap where my nails had grown. I'm really happy with this product over all, but there was one thing...... when I took it off, I saw that it had stained my nails green! Yes! GREEN! I dunno if it was just me, but you could tell there was a green tint to them. The camera didn't pick that up much either, but you can still tell.

Greenness.

Yuck.

It did eventually fade after about a day or two, but it was pretty funny. But, other than that, I loved this color. If you're looking for a good green, try this one! I'll check in later, so keep an eye out for more posts!

Rainbow Zebra Print. (DIY included!)

Hey there readers! Sorry for the lack of posts, but school has just started again for me. However.....I have a super fun mani and DIY for you to make up for it! Enjoy!

green blended in so nicely together.

to check out the DIY below! (No, that's not a

green doughnut. It's a portable tape dispenser.)

DIY: Rainbow Zebra Print Nails

What you need:

-A light/sheer metallic base color

-Metallic/shimmery pink polish

-Metallic/shimmery blue polish

-Metallic/shimmery green polish

-Clear topcoat

-Black nail art polish

-Triangular cosmetics wedge

*Note- you can change up the colors. No need to stick to these! Be creative!

**Note- bright and neon colors look better. Metallics will look less sponge-y and will give you a nice effect.

Getting started:

1. Take the light/sheer metallic color and apply it to bare nails. Here I used Wet 'N Wild Craze's Shield. (No need to use the wedge- I was just using the pic.)

2. Next, take the pink color (WNWC Lust) and dab in on the sponge. Take the sponge and then dab it onto the bottom of the nail, by the cuticle.

3. Repeat with the blue polish (Sally Hansen Insta- Dri in Blue Streak) and sponge in the center of the nail. Overlap a bit on the pink. It's ok if you get it on the tip- it'll be covered up by the green your gonna sponge on later.

Heehee- messy!

4. Repeat with the green polish (Maybelline Express Finish in Go Go Green) sponged at the tip.

What it should look like cleaned up and all pretty. ^_^

*Optional* If you want to give it a more blended in effect, take the base color and lightly sponge it over the nail after finishing the three colors.

5. Take your black nail art polish (Color Club's Art Club polish with stripper brush in Black) and draw on your zebra stripes! Cover with a topcoat and voila!, your finished! Hope you guys have as much fun doing this mani as I did.

OPI polish.

Happy monday everyone! (or not so happy for some of you.) Today's post is about an OPI polish. The thing is, I got this polish from a friend and there was no label at the bottom! I have no clue what it is, but its either an older color or its a fake. See for your self!

random glitter top coat. (CG City Lights.)

Natural light, slight shade.

Bottle in natural light. Looks like a cream from far,

but has tiny fushia micro- glitter flecks in it.

Overall, this polish applied smoothly and dried quickly, which makes me think that it's not a fake. It has the OPI on the brush and all the labeling is correct, but I'm still not sure. If any of you know what it is, feel free to write a comment below! I used three coats of the OPI and one coat of China Glaze's No- Chip Top Coat. Hope you enjoyed!

Ah. I just got back from vacation and decided to put up a swatch 'cause I feel guilty for not posting for so long. It's just a simple glitter french mani with one of my favorite polishes- Wet 'n Wild Craze Glitz. For the top coat I used China Glaze's No- Chip Top Coat. Enjoy!

Pink, Silver, and Black Striped Design

I recently did a design of stripes using the Art Deco Polishes. I used WNW Craze in Lust as the base and Art Deco in Silver and Color Club Art Club in Black. China Glaze No Chip Topcoat.

This was one of those "for fun." kinda designs. I alternated colors and stripe direction. It was a realativly simple design, but fun and easy to do. Alll the polishes were bought on my own at Walgreens, Dollar Tree and Bed Bath and Beyond. *I love my bff KALINA!*

Wet 'N Wild Craze Polishes

Here are the four Wet N' Wild Craze polishes. These are the squat cylinder bottles with a nice design on the cap.

All four that I own. Bought at Walgreen's.

Glitz. One of my FAVORITE polishes!

This has magenta, light pink, and bright

blue sparkles in it. So pretty.....

Glitz, back. This polish usually uses three or four

coats to be fully glittery/ whole nail covered.

Lust. A frosty- ish neon pink. It goes

onto the nail exactly the color is in the

bottle.

Lust, back. It take around three coats to get a

full color.

Goldmine. The perfect gold! There's

nothing more I can say.

Goldmine, back. It takes around two to three

coat to get a nice color. One or two coats is

a bit sheer.

Shield. A good strong metallic gunmetal

gray-ish, dark silver color. It has flecks

of silver, dark silvery color, and bronze.

Shield, back. It takes around three coat to be the

color in the bottle.

All of the polishes are smooth and last for around four or five days. Most of them use about three coats, and had great color. All of these were bought at Walgreen's for $1.99. I would defiantly recommend and buy this product again

Wet 'n Wild Craze- Glitz

I absolutely love this polish! It's one of my favorites- so pretty! Here are the swatches:

Natural light, no flash.

By the window, natural light.

The polish is made up of mostly magenta glitter, but also has light pink, tan, and light blue glitter in it. *Drools* Not only is the polish fabulous, its really affordable. I got this at Walgreen's for around $2. When applying the polish, it goes on pretty sparse. I think this is 3 coats. This polish is very versatile- so you can use it for many things. I highly recommend this polish.

Water Marbling Design

Hi there reader! I was sick the other day, so I couldn't post. Anyways, I recently did a water marbled design to try it out. It was my first time, and it was actually harder than it looks! I saw some videos on YouTube, and thought, "Well I can do that too!" Yes, I know my nails are way not same in shape. I got lazy and decided to just go ahead and start the design. Hehe... well, here's how they turned out!

ring finger had a black base underneath the design,

so they turned out like that.

N.Y.C. Times Square Tangerine Cream Swatch

First post on my new blog. I've swatched a N.Y.C. Polish for you guys. It's their Times Square Tangerine Cream.

Natural Light, No flash. This is with their In A New

Honestly, I don't like this color that much. It makes my fingers look washed out. It would look really nice with someone with a tan though.

The formula was good and it was a smooth application. However, it was a little streaky. I used three coats on the Tangerine and I used two coats for the Sparkle topcoat to make the sparkles a little more dense. I bought the Tangerine at Target and the Sparkle topcoat at Bed Bath and Beyond. Everything was bought on my own.
